 As to this curve in the Circle I don't have a lot to offer in way of pics or sound bites, only my words. Between a couple of marriages, a girl friend or three, several bear breakins and other natural disasters most of my archives (which were extensive) are now M.I.A. I'm hoping some of the ol' KABN crew and the listening audience we used to have will contribute what they can as this networks-out....What I can emphatically say without reservation, KABN Radio 10,000 watts on the AM dial blew KLOS Radio 50,000 watts on the FM dial out of the water for real Underground radio,[KLOS in L.A. in the '60's (one of the first ten FM Undergrounds in the US) ], KABN truly was a one of a kind. I had never heard anything like KABN before, and certainly nothing since (modern times: maybe Alex Jones INFOWARS.COM, although a fully different format). But the realness, that same essence of passion and commitment, the zeal to believe is there . We honestly believed in the Dream, all of us, at one time or another, I reckon... For the KABN story goes way beyond normal radio--it was never something you just tuned into--you were listening or working there because you wanted to be part of it, kind of the Internet before the Internet was invented by Al Gore, but instead a group of minds, bodies and souls connected to a central nerve through the air waves. KABN went way beyond what most of us can even imagine in this modern age as a business goes also, never just a job, but an adventure, at least for me, and quite a few more that I know--the experience still shining in my mind as the finest bunch of lovable misfits and genius I have ever had the privilege to hang with--and to most of us involved, so pivotal to all that has went on since...
